Downloading your data
Everything Vurna holds about you, written onto your own phone. Nothing is emailed, nothing expires, and there is no link to lose — the copy is simply yours from the moment it finishes.
Where it is
- Open Vurna and tap the profile icon at the top right of Today.
- Privacy.
- Under Your data: Download your data.
It comes in two halves, and you choose whether to take both
They weigh very differently, so they are two separate taps rather than one long wait that can fail at the end.
- The written part takes a moment. One readable file per recipe, named after the recipe, plus a single complete record of everything — vurna-export.json — which is the machine-readable copy a data-portability request is actually for.
- The photographs come after, and you choose when. They are around 1.4 MB each, so a full kitchen runs to a hundred files or more. How many there are and roughly how much room they need are shown before the download starts, never after.
The written half is complete on its own. If you stop there, you still have everything except the pictures.
What's in it
- Recipes, ingredients, steps and notes
- Photos you took or Vurna made
- Meal plans and shopping lists
- Fridge and pantry
- Household names, allergies and dislikes
- Your conversations with Vurna
And beside those: your profile, your Kitchen №, the privacy answers you gave, your collections, your saved plans, what you've cooked, and your nutrition profile. It is the whole account, not a summary of it.
Where it lands
In Files, under Vurna, in a folder dated the day you asked for it. Photographs are named after the recipe they belong to, so a recipe's picture sits next to the recipe's own file instead of becoming a hundred files with the same name. There's a Share the record button if you want to move it somewhere else — a computer, a drive, a different app.
Two things worth knowing before you start
- Keep the screen open while the photographs download. Leaving part-way doesn't cost you the written half; it only means some pictures aren't there yet, and you can ask again.
- The copy stays on the device until you move or delete it. Anyone who opens it can read your whole kitchen, so keep it to yourself.
We record that you asked, and nothing about what was in it. The date, and whether it finished. That log is how a request is shown to have been honoured; it holds no recipes and no photographs.
If it fails
Nothing is saved and nothing on your account is changed — the screen says so plainly, and you can start again. If it keeps failing, write to support@vurna.app and we'll assemble it from our side.
